Child Find

Child Find activities are provided by GRPS to assure that the needs of students suspected of having a disability will be met. It is the district responsibility to identify persons between the ages of birth and 26 who are suspected of having a disability that may affect their progress in the general education curriculum.
If you suspect your child may have a disability, the district team can help by:
- Identifying students Birth to 26 years of age suspected of having a disability
- Supporting intervention and prevention practices through the district Student Success Team
- Guiding you to the appropriate educational services within the district
- Providing additional information

Special Education Services Birth-26

Students who reside within GRPS and are determined eligible to receive specialized instruction or related services through the evaluation and IEP team process, and who are not more than 25 years of age, and who have not yet graduated from high school are provided services across a continuum of settings in order to meet their unique educational needs. These settings may include home, community, preschool, elementary school, middle school, or high school buildings located throughout the district depending on their level of need. In addition to our district based programs and services, for students who experience more complex learning needs, we also have access to, and cooperatively support, programing through KISD Center-Based Programming.

Our mission is to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities by providing instruction and training to enable them to have access to, and make progress in, the general education curriculum. We offer a full continuum of services and programs across the district. Students determined eligible for specialized instruction or related services through the IEP team process may have access to the following programs and services.


- Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Emotional Impairment (EI)
- Moderate Cognitive Impairment (MoCI)
- Resource (Levels 1, 2 or 3)

- Homebound/Hospitalized
- Nursing
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- School Social Work
- Speech-Language Therapy
- Teacher Consultant Services
